CCF glam up for Regimental DinnerFebruary 1st, 2016
CCF cadets and a very special goat got glammed up for an insightful evening at the Royal Welsh Regiment’s Maindy Barracks in Cardiff.
The lucky sixth formers from Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools were invited to a Regimental Dinner on Thursday which began by meeting Shenkin, the Regimental Goat, who greeted them at the entrance to the Officers’ Mess in all of his finery.
Dr Andrew Daniel, Headmaster of Monmouth School, joined the group along with staff members who run CCF activities.
Ian Lawrence, chemistry teacher and CCF officer, was an infantry officer serving with the Royal Welsh Regiment and left as a major.
He said: “The cadets heard from a junior officer who gave a fascinating insight into the challenges and rewards of leadership.
“We were then hosted at a superb candlelit dinner where we were entertained by the Regimental Band.
“Following the Loyal Toast to HM The Queen and speeches, we withdrew to the Anteroom.
“Monmouth School CCF remain very proud of our close links with Royal Welsh and we thank them for hosting us.
“It was a most enjoyable and memorable evening.”
