February 27, 2024

Talented athlete Aharon, a Year 13 student, has been proudly chosen to represent Jamaica in the U18’s Elite 7’s squad at the prestigious Tropical Rugby 7’s tournament in Tampa, Florida.

Facing off against teams from around the globe, including Canada, England, and various American contenders, Aharon embraces this opportunity with excitement.

Following his standout performance last year, where he secured a spot in the Jamaican U18’s team for the youth Commonwealth Games, Aharon now steps up to the national stage − eagerly anticipating the camaraderie with his teammates from across America and Jamaica.

Aharon’s exceptional showing at the recent indoor championships didn’t go unnoticed. An ex-Welsh deaf rugby international, impressed by his skills, has extended an invitation for Aharon to trial with the Welsh Deaf rugby Team, adding another dimension to his burgeoning career.

Reflecting on Aharon’s achievement, Headmaster, Mr Simon Dorman, said: “We’re very proud of Aharon’s achievement and selection, it’s a great honour for both him and our school community.”

In response, Aharon said “I’m a bit nervous but mostly excited to represent one of my countries from my multi-heritage background. This is a great opportunity to showcase my skills on a big stage as well as promoting Jamaican rugby. The Jamaican women’s team is doing really well and both teams are looking to qualify for the Olympics. I’m looking forward to making my rugby club and my school proud – it’s all still sinking in!”.
