Our visitors, staff and students often remark on the high standard of catering in the Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools. In every dining room and on every occasion, our students benefit from freshly prepared and beautifully presented food.

Our catering teams, which include fully qualified chefs, work closely with local suppliers to source fresh seasonal food so that a varied and nutritionally balanced menu is always on offer.  All dietary requirements are met, including special requests for religious, vegetarian and non-allergenic meals.  As well as providing all the meals for boarders, and lunches for the whole school community, the catering team supports many special occasions, including the Summer Ball, Sixth Form Disco, Speech Days, barbeques and banquets.

Our modern facilities include the most efficient industrial ovens and food preparation equipment, while every kitchen maintains a 5* hygiene rating.   For Nursery to Year 2, the meals are freshly prepared in the Monmouth Girls’ kitchens and then finally cooked and presented at Agincourt to our youngest pupils. Every care is taken to ensure that they are delicious and age-appropriate.

The catering teams take every opportunity to deliver innovative and creative cuisine and the schools will regularly present special events, including language days when dishes from Mexico, India, or Italy may be on offer. There is always a choice of more than one hot meal, as well as an extensive cold buffet, fresh fruit, cheese and biscuits, baked potatoes and freshly baked bread rolls.

All Monmouth students are invited to send a representative to the Food Forum meetings where they can discuss the schools’ provision with the Catering Manager. While preserving diversity between the schools, the menu scheduling is similar. In this way, students who move from one school to the other, particularly in the Sixth Form, can expect to enjoy the same high standard.

As part of their commitment to the environment, the schools support the ReFood recycling programme, in which any waste is sent for processing, often to produce green energy and fertiliser.
