A stimulating environment where pupils from Year 3 and up can focus on their academic goals, feed their personal interests and belong to a wider community.

After the successful launch of our co-ed Prep School in September 2021, we are delighted to have aligned our junior boarding provision for boys and girls.

From September 2022, our dynamic and vibrant junior boarding community has been brought together into Monnow House, a beautiful and historic boarding house, based in the main building at Monmouth School for Girls.

With outside spaces, 25 acres of playing fields, an indoor swimming pool, sports hall and fitness suite, tennis courts, Astro, dining hall, library and Performing Arts Centre, the on-site facilities for our junior boarders combined are outstanding.

Our new junior boarding house has separate floors for the boys’ and girls’ bedrooms and each floor retain its own space to relax.

Prep, after-school and weekend activities are run together, building on the strong foundations laid by our co-ed Prep School.

FAQs

Do boys and girls share rooms?

No. Our new junior boarding house has separate floors for the boys’ and girls’ bedrooms and each floor retains its own space to relax and chill-out.

What facilities are available?

With outside spaces, 25 acres of playing fields, an indoor swimming pool, sports hall and fitness suite, tennis and netball courts, Astro, dining hall, library and Performing Arts Centre, the on-site facilities for our junior boarders combined are truly outstanding.

Will my child know any staff at Monnow House?

The house is being led by Mrs Kate Kirman, the Deputy Head at Monmouth Prep School, and Mr Kevin Shepherd, a senior member of staff at Monmouth Prep School, who moved across with the boys to remain as resident house tutor. With key members of the boarding team remaining in place, the excellent support and bonds built up between existing boarders and staff, continue to flourish.
