Notice to Members

On Friday 7th August the Welsh Government confirmed that swimming pools and indoor gyms can reopen in Wales from Monday 10th August.  The schools have given much thought to the reopening of the Monmouth Schools Sports Club but with our pupils returning to school in just four weeks, with regret, we have taken the decision that for now MSSC must remain closed.  This decision has not been taken lightly and we hope you all understand that September 2020 presents every school with the unprecedented challenge of educating their pupils in the safest possible environment.  To permit members of the public to share our facilities increases the risk of transmission of Covid-19, not only to our members, but to the pupils otherwise contained within protective ‘bubbles’.  As no one knows the effect that reopening schools will have on the incidence of Covid-19 in the community, we believe the safest course of action is to delay reopening until we have a greater insight into this risk.  The situation will be under constant review and please rest assured that all being well, we hope it might be possible to welcome you all back to MSSC from October half term.

Welcome to Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools Enterprises

Our enterprises operate throughout Monmouth and include the vibrant Blake Theatre, a thriving Sports Club, the stunning event and conference facility that is The Hitchcock Pavilion and the newly constructed Performing Arts Centre. We have a superb range of venues available for hire whether you are planning a corporate or social event and during the Easter and summer holidays the accommodation within our boarding houses is available to rent for residential courses. We manage the commercial letting of all the Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools’ sports facilities providing top quality resources for local schools, clubs and associations and in partnership with the Kings’ Foundation, operators of the UK’s leading sports and activity day camps, we provide local children with the opportunity to attend Kings Camps enabling them to keep active, have fun and learn together.

Our income is gifted back to the schools, helping to support their educational mission, including the provision of bursaries and scholarships.

Local schools and community groups may be eligible for discounted rates or free access to our facilities.
