Two of our remarkable students, Aharon G M in Year 13 and Lorenz A in Year 11, showcased their talent at the Welsh Indoor Athletics Championships, bringing home well-deserved medals.

Lorenz, a first-timer in the age group Indoor Athletics Welsh championships for the triple jump, had previously faced off against seniors at the Welsh Senior Indoor Champs. In an impressive performance, he approached the 12m mark with a huge 57cm personal best, landing at 11m 91. Despite finishing a commendable 5th in the senior competition, Lorenz clinched a silver position in his age group, earning his first Welsh championship medal.

Aharon G M, an international rugby 7’s player, demonstrated his versatility in athletics by competing in four events during the Welsh Indoor Athletics Championships, securing medals in three.

On Day 1, Aharon set a new personal best in the pole vault at 4m 13, narrowly missing the 4m 23 bar. Amidst clearing bars on his first attempts, he also sprinted to a new personal best of 7.19 in the 60m, advancing to the final.

Day 2 brought an early start for Aharon, who claimed a bronze in the long jump. The final event of the championships, the 200m, showcased his tenacity as he won his heat, securing automatic qualification to the semi-final an hour later. Although he narrowly missed the semi-final victory, Aharon, despite heavy legs and mental fatigue, dug deep in the final to secure a well-deserved bronze medal.
