Head’s Welcome

A sense that your child can achieve extraordinary things is at the heart of everything we do at Monmouth School for Girls.

Our mixture of day and boarding pupils, aged 7 to 18, creates a real sense of community alongside a strong House system.

We are based in the beautiful Wye Valley and our education experience is carefully planned to motivate and guide your daughter through a dynamic and creative curriculum.

We will nurture your child’s talents through our extensive facilities, including science laboratories, theatre, music school and superb sports provision.

Your daughter will have the opportunity to explore music, art, drama and outdoor pursuits, with a vast array of concerts, theatre performances, expeditions and trips running throughout the year.

Collaborative work and shared facilities with Monmouth School for Boys will allow your child to have a greater freedom to explore her academic capabilities.

Academic results are impressive, regularly appearing in the top 125 schools in UK league tables. In 2017, we achieved our best-ever A* performance in a glowing set of GCSE and IGCSE results. An outstanding 48.5% of all grades were A* – emphatically eclipsing the 42% of A*s awarded in 2016.

A total of 18 girls achieved nine A*s or more, with 11 awarded at least 10 A*s and 36 attaining nine or more A* to A grades. 90.48% of all grades were A* to B and 98.1 % of pupils were awarded A* to C.

With 100% pass rate at A level now a regular achievement, most girls win places at their first choice universities to read subjects as diverse as medicine, law, languages, engineering and economics. In 2017,  16.5% were A* grades and 54.1% were A* to A. A total of 75.2% were awarded A* to B grades and more than a third (34%) achieved three or more A to A* grades.

We inspire the next generation of female engineers, and are proud that our pupils have won national science and engineering awards.

We offer far more than just good grades; we want your daughter to achieve her full potential and reach the highest individual standards in sport, music, drama, photography, dance or Combined Cadet Force.

Your daughter will have the freedom to take personal responsibility, to think for herself and to understand service to the community as we prepare her for an exciting future.

Please do arrange an appointment to meet me and discuss your daughter personally. We would all be delighted to see you here and offer you a very warm welcome.
