Reception

We provide our children in Reception with purposeful and exciting opportunities to learn and  we support them fully to excel in all areas of the curriculum.

We have an excellent staff/pupil ratio and all our children work in small groups, receiving 1:1 attention, and make accelerated progress.    

Subject specialists in Music, Dance, PE, Swimming, Games, Forest School and French teach our Reception children each week.

During their first year of formal education, our children build on their outstanding phonics knowledge gained in Nursery to read simple books and write short pieces.

Our children grow in confidence with numbers, too, using 10 frames to tackle tasks, such as self-registration or snack choice.

We challenge our boys and girls in every area of their learning and offer a broad range of extra-curricular activities, including Games, Dance, PE and Swimming.

We recognise the importance of communicating with our Reception parents and use platforms each day to celebrate our children’s special moments, both at home and in school.
