Students join ‘Fridays for Future’ to battle climate changeMarch 15th, 2019
Students from Monmouth School for Girls have joined others from schools in over 100 countries across the world to protest about climate change.
Organised by the Eco Committee, students took part in the ‘Fridays for Future’ movement, inspired by 16-year-old Swedish Climate Strike Leader Greta Thunberg. The movement aims to show the world young people’s views on the subject, inspiring action and change from policy makers.
Students used the time to make their voices heard about climate change too. Year 13 student Alexandra explained why she and her fellow pupils got involved. She said: “We took part in the ‘Fridays for Future’ Climate Change march – it was inspired by 16 year old Greta Thunberg, who has just been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
“In the coming weeks we are planning to make this a regular occurrence and, hopefully, influence our law makers to take action.”
