Body image, negative comments on social media and acceptance of others were among the sensitive topics covered in a successful online event.

Pupils at Monmouth School for Girls enjoyed a virtual music tour and were involved in a discussion on mental health with the up-and-coming pop band, New Rules, on Thursday 11th March.

As part of the C4L programme, Years 7, 8 and 9 enjoyed the band’s musical performance, but also listened to advice given by its members on mental health, cyber-bullying and diversity.

The band stressed the importance of looking after yourself during these challenging times, ideas to keep healthy and motivated, and the need to turn to others if you need help, by being open and honest and not afraid to speak about mental health issues.

The girls asked a host of questions virtually during an entertaining live question-and-answer session, giving them a well-deserved lift.

The members of New Rules hail from London and Dublin and released their first song in April 2019.

The band is due to headline London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire and Dublin’s Olympia in the near future.
