Girls spread festive cheer to vulnerable and elderly

December 16, 2020

Students at Monmouth School for Girls have spent the last weeks of term busily crafting Christmas cards and gifts for residents in the area.

The pupils and staff filled more than 50 shoeboxes packed with treats and gifts, which have been delivered to Monmouth’s Bridges Centre and the Hilltop residential care home in Ruardean Hill, Forest of Dean.

Residents and staff at Monnow Vale Health and Social Care Facility in Monmouth have also received handcrafted Christmas cards made by the students.

Miss Joanna Johnson, teacher of Ethics, Philosophy, Confidence 4 Life and Psychology, who is also the school’s charity leader, coordinated the project.

Miss Johnson said the pupils and staff at Monmouth School for Girls were delighted to bring some much-needed cheer to vulnerable and elderly people in Monmouth and the Forest of Dean, particularly after such a difficult 2020.
