Double awards joy for fund manager Abbie

December 6th, 2017

A former pupil at Monmouth School for Girls, who empowers and encourages women in the investment sector, has won two major industry honours.

Abbie Llewellyn-Waters works as a successful global equity fund manager in the City of London and triumphed in the Women in Investment Awards.

Ms Llewellyn-Waters was a deserved winner in Investment Week’s Investment Woman of the Year (large firms) and Fund Manager of the Year (large firms) categories.

The judges were full of praise for Ms Llewellyn-Waters whose ‘impressive initiatives to empower and encourage women’ were brought to the fore.

She was also hailed for her drive and success as a fund manager and for her work on a framework for addressing the structural hurdles for women in the sector, including retention of performance track record following a career break.

The inaugural awards attracted more than 800 nominations and recognised the achievements of women in the financial services sector.

Headmistress at Monmouth School for Girls, Dr Caroline Pascoe, said: “In a sector that does not normally attract highly qualified female graduates, Abbie’s achievements are significant in promoting the opportunities that are available to young women from Monmouth.”

Ms Llewellyn-Waters, who is married with two children, was raised in a small hamlet in the Wye Valley.

She was a day girl at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools from the first form in the preparatory department through to taking her A levels in the Sixth Form.

She joined Jupiter Asset Management Limited in 2007 and focuses on Global Sustainable Equities.

Jupiter is an established fund management group, which manages £48.4 billion.

Ms Llewellyn-Waters invests in companies that manage their business models responsibly from a financial, social and environmental perspective.

After graduating from University College, London, Ms Llewellyn-Waters completed an Investment Management Programme at London Business School.
