December 16, 2019

Pupils and staff at Monmouth School for Girls and Monmouth School Girls’ Prep served up a festive treat of music and dance on the final day of the Michaelmas Term.

The traditional festive singing competition for Charities Day is always one of the highlights of the year.

Organised by Miss Joanna Johnson, the House Choirs showed tremendous teamwork and originality in their performances.

Mather Jackson clinched the top prize, after being awarded 39 points out of a possible 40 by the judges, for their wonderful version of Shakin’ Stevens’ Merry Christmas Everyone.

Imbert Terry took the runners-up prize, with 35 points, for their version of Slade’s Merry Christmas Everybody.

Bagnall Oakeley, with 34 points finished third, with Wizzard’s I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday.

And Prosser, with 33 points, took fourth spot with All I want for Christmas Is You (Mariah Carey).

The event was a fitting and fun finale to the term and a wonderful way for pupils and staff to head into the Christmas break.
