Canoeing for Crohn’s

September 15, 2015

1-IMG_3275wThis summer Year 11 pupil, Brydie, decided to try and raise money towards ground-breaking clinical trials that may end the suffering of those with Crohn’s Disease – particularly important as it is increasingly diagnosed in young children.  She set off, with her mother, to canoe over 150 km of the River Wye from Glasbury in the Welsh borders, through Hay-on-Wye, Hereford, Ross, Monmouth and down to Brockweir, just above Tintern Abbey.

Brydie had mixed weather, starting with some sunshine, but battling strong headwinds and ending with torrential rain!  It was much more challenging than she had expected and it took 7 days to complete, but she really enjoyed being on the river.  Overall it is an amazing accomplishment and so far she has raised over £3,000.
