Worship Through Dance is the title of a unique Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools’ service taking place at the town’s St Mary’s Priory Church on Saturday 21st May.

Dance students will be performing during an interactive religious service led by the Chaplain of Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools, Reverend Clifford Swartz.

Head of Dance, Ms Rhyan Parry, explained: “The unique concept of Worship Through Dance is a magical example of the study of scripture to provide stimuli and inspiration for creativity and choreography; coupled with site-specific devised work in a beautiful and moving location.

“We will be creating a service around biblical themes that Reverend Swartz introduced to us as the starting point – Thirst, The Woman at the Well to the Crucifixion of Jesus.

“Our group of Saturday contemporary dancers and teachers thought it would be fantastic to develop the themes into something special and memorable.

“Now, we cannot wait to share our service with parents, members of Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools and parishioners.”

Reverend Swartz will lead the service which, is open to all and include hymns, bible readings and a dance performance.

The service will take place from 2.45pm to 3.30pm with refreshments served afterwards in the priory to raise funds for the children’s charity, Tŷ Hafan.
