Year Two were greeted on the drawbridge of Caldicot Castle by Sir Thomas, the resident knight. Only once they had shared the appropriate password were they granted access to the courtyard and their journey back in time began.

The Lady of the castle, Lady Alianore, transported our historians to the Great Gatehouse Banquet Hall and provided the perfect accompaniment to the medieval knight experience. During the workshops, children learnt how to behave appropriately and how to care for medieval artefacts.

Unfortunately, we had to return to the 21st century; but the discovery of Sir Green’s armour in an ancient trunk tells us that this medieval journey is set to continue for some time…
