Scintillating science impresses the judges

April 26th, 2019

In the Monmouth Science Fair on Thursday, Year 6 finally showed to their peers, parents and judges the incredible scientific research they’ve been working on for the last month or so.

Now in its fourth year, the standard just keeps getting higher every year. What was fantastic to see this year was how many of the teams conducted experiments on the day so that the visitors and judges could be part of the research themselves. The judges, all professional scientists, were incredibly impressed by the level of science and understanding all participants demonstrated. This meant the judges then had an extremely hard time deciding between some very impressive experiments, however the winners in the end were Freddie, Tom C, Sam C, John and Neil of Team Hype with their investigation into how sound is affected by liquids of different densities. Teams from the Girls’ Prep came an extremely close 2nd and joint 3rd with a team from Raglan Primary achieving highly commended all with outstanding research. Excellent work all round.
