George takes school 1st XV rugby captaincy honour

Front-row forward George Tuckley is the new 1st XV rugby captain at Monmouth School for Boys.

George, who joined in Year 7 and has played for Dragons Under-18s, will be leading the Monmouth squad during the upcoming campaign.

George, a boarder from Salisbury, will take charge for the first time when the Monmouth boys travel to Marseille in France at the end of this month for a pre-season training camp.

A total of 46 boys from various age-groups at the school will be heading out to France for the action-packed camp just before the start of the Rugby World Cup.

George, who has been playing at Abergavenny RFC, will be backed up in his new leadership role by the 1st XV vice-captain, Jack Woods.

Jack, who lives near Newport, is also a very talented young player, who can perform at fly-half or full-back.

Jack gained representative honours for Wales Under-18s earlier this year in the 2023 Six Nations.

Mr Paul Morris, Master in Charge of Rugby Coaching at Monmouth School for Boys, a former 1st XV coach and player at Lydney Rugy Club in the Forest of Dean, is looking ahead to another successful season.
