Magnificent Christmas tree up for grabs

December 8th, 2014

Grange-TreeA “perfect and magnificent” Christmas tree is being offered as a gift to any local community group, church, school or hospital which would like it.

The Grange, Monmouth Preparatory School, has leapt into the spirit of the season and is looking to donate its towering tree at the end of term.

Standing well over 12ft tall, the fir will need to be collected on Tuesday, December 16, between 8am and 4pm.

Elaine Thomas, Head of the Grange, said: “This is the most perfect and magnificent tree we have ever had at The Grange and we would be delighted if a local community group could make use of it after we have broken up for the holidays.

“It took four strong men to carry it in, so anybody who wants it would have to arrange for people to pick it up and have a trailer to take it away on.

“I would really love for it not to be wasted.”

For more information, or to register an interest in collecting the tree, please email Monica Peace at thegrange@monmouthschool.org by Sunday, December 14, writing ‘Christmas Tree’ as the subject matter.

UPDATE: Boys’ school gives church a real Christmas tweet

The Grange’s Christmas tree has been given to a local church following an appeal on social media.

The School took to Twitter to offer its grand fir to any local community group, church, school or hospital which would like it at the end of term.

Within minutes of the story going live, St Thomas the Martyr in Monmouth emailed The Grange to reserve the towering tree.

It will be displayed at the church from Tuesday, December 16.

Elaine Thomas, Head of the Grange, said: “We are so delighted that St Thomas will make use of our magnificent tree after we have broken up for the holidays.

“I would really love for it to be enjoyed for the whole festive season.”
