Allan Reid gave a detailed and fascinating account of the Bloodhound Project which aims to break the land speed record in South  Africa in 2016. The current land speed record stands at 763.035mph (1,227.985km/h), and the aim is that the car will reach a speed of 1000 miles an hour – the speed of a jet plane.
