A former Monmouth student has been picked in Wales’ squad for the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Hallam Amos, a former Head Boy at Monmouth School for Boys, has been named in Wales’ 31-strong squad for the tournament.

Hallam, 24, played at full-back in Wales’ 22-17 defeat to Ireland in last Saturday’s World Cup warm-up match in Cardiff.

Wales begin their World Cup campaign against Georgia on Monday 23rd September in Toyota City before further pool matches against Australia, Fiji and Uruguay.

The versatile back, who has just joined Cardiff Blues from Pro14 rivals Dragons, was also selected in Wales’ squad for 2015 Rugby World Cup, where he played in the outstanding victory against England at Twickenham.

Last year Hallam, from Cross Ash, was a member of Wales’ Commonwealth Games squad and played for the Rugby Sevens team in the Gold Coast.
