stave-james-cricketOn Tuesday evening the middle school cricketers were fortunate to be coached by former England and Glamorgan Cricketer Steve James. Steve talked the boys through playing the short ball, and set up two drills. One on evading the short ball and one on attacking it. The boys enjoyed the session and showed real progress, having the opportunity to hit a high percentage of balls whilst getting feedback. Steve who was an opening batsman was well known for his courage against fast bowling and his ability to take on the quickest bowlers in the world. His England debut was against South Africa at Lords, who had the opening attack of Allan Donald and Shaun Pollock. Steve who is an old Boy was also able to talk the boys through what is required to succeed at the highest level of sport, whilst also completing his University studies at Swansea and Cambridge University.
