Charitable boys raise £1,166 for Bridges Community Centre

July 6, 2017

Ten kind-hearted boys have completed a multitude of fundraising challenges to help disadvantaged and vulnerable people from their community.

The Form III pupils from Hereford House at Monmouth School have raised a total of £1,166 during this academic year.

All of the money will help Bridges Community Centre to continue running regular tea dances and gatherings for elderly people who would otherwise be very isolated.

Rhiannon Wynne-Lord, Head of RS and charity co-ordinator at Monmouth School, said: “We chose to support this vital local charity because we always want to strengthen our links with the local community.

“It’s lovely because the boys can see exactly where the money goes.”

The pupils threw themselves into various fundraising activities.

Harry raised £304 by completing 500 tennis serves in an hour, Josh ran 10km to collect £154, and Hamish contributed £200 by taking on a 30 minute cold water swim, just to name a few.

Well done, boys!
