Chapel House students and staff take on Santa Fun Run

December 10, 2019

Chapel House boys and staff, dressed in tinsel, flashing lights and Santa hats, joined 495 other people dressed in festive attire for the annual Monmouth Santa Fun Run through the town’s streets and across Vauxhall fields on Sunday, 2nd December The colourful charity event, which was raising funds for Bees for Development, started and finished on Monnow Bridge and followed a 2.1km course.

It was a beautiful, sunny day and the atmosphere was electric as the countdown to the start of the race wound down. As the starting horn blew, excited Chapel House boys, led by Ms Mone, charged off at a healthy pace behind a bee on a bicycle who was leading the way. The group soon spread out over the course, however, with some keeping up with the leaders all the way round and others taking a more leisurely approach to the charity jog.

All boys and staff completed the run, each receiving a medal and refreshments provided by Monmouth Boys School and together they raised £80 for the charity, which was added to more than £2,000 raised on the day

This fantastic event was organised by The Spirit of Monmouth Running Club and was also supported by Monmouth Boys School and Sports Centre, WyeMedia, the Co-Op, Timpsons and other local businesses and it was wonderful to see so many Monmouth school boys taking part.
