Last week, Haberdashers’ Monmouth Prep School hosted the 27th annual 6-a-side football tournament and welcomed over 120 enthusiastic boys and girls from nearby primary schools.
It was a fantastic afternoon of skill, camaraderie, and good old-fashioned sportsmanship that left all the players, coaches and supporting parents smiling.
The event welcomed football teams from Cross Ash, Pentrepoeth, Kymin View, Overmonnow, and Osbaston primary schools to compete on the Prep school’s 3G sports pitches.
After an exciting afternoon of football matches, Monmouth Prep’s A team clinched the Cup and Osbaston school secured both the Plate and Bowl titles for their A and B teams, respectively. Kymin View took home the Shield.
Henry from Pentrepoeth said, “Massive thank you for organising the tournament yesterday. As always, it was amazing. Credit to everyone involved. We will look forward to the next one.”
For players and spectators alike, it was an afternoon of fun, teamwork, and fantastic football skills demonstrated by all.
Mr K Shepherd, Head of Prep Boys’ Games and Key Stage 2, reflected on the event, “It is so inspiring to see such a gathering of children and parents from the local community come together every year at this event. Presenting medals and trophies to teams of proud, smiling young footballers is a real privilege.”
