Brownies and Guides

The leading UK charity for girls and young women

At Monmouth Prep School Brownies and Guides meet as follows:

Brownies (7-10 year olds)
Tuesday afternoons 4.15-5.45pm

Brownies is about trying new things that teach girls aged seven to 10 about themselves, their community and their world. Brownies introduces girls to a world of new opportunities, challenges and fun. Girls go along to camps, holidays, day trips and sleepovers. They get together with their friends at regular meetings where they learn new hobbies, get creative, develop skills and have outdoor adventures.  As well as trying activities in their meetings, girls choose from interest badges related to things they want to know more about.

Girl Guides (10-14 years)
Monday afternoons 4.15-5.30pm

Guides have an exciting and varied programme designed to inspire and challenge girls from 10-14. What you do in Guides is up to you, from taking part in lots of exciting activities at regular meetings to special events and trips away.  You will choose from different badges and awards which will help you learn new skills and try new challenges. You can do some of this on your own and others you’ll do in groups in your regular unit meetings.

Dance 4 Life Workshops

Summer 2023: dates tbc

Summer Dance is great for anyone aged 4-16 years old looking to get moving and have some fun. This opportunity is a perfect fit whether you are new to dance or a more experienced dancer looking to continue your training during the school holidays.

Tuition is provided by inspirational guest teachers who lead you through warm-ups, techniques, and dance combinations in a range of styles. Students perform the routines they have been working on in the Friday afternoon Showcase.

There is a choreography competition for older students with prizes and the opportunity to win a free place for next year!

Younger students are offered a combination of dance, singing, drama, crafts, and movement games.

Classes are split into age-appropriate groups, take place in the purpose-built Performing Arts centre and set in the school’s beautiful grounds, which are enjoyed at break times and there maybe some outdoor dance on location!

It is a wonderful opportunity to experience a variety of dance in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

The ‘Tuck Shop’ and ‘Uniform-Free’ nature of the course is a bonus.

Players will be able to enter JDCs in school years 7 and 8 and spend 2 years in this developmental phase where core fundamental skills will be introduced and delivered that are desirable to later future progression in the Player Pathway.
