Brownies and Guides
The leading UK charity for girls and young women
At Monmouth Prep School Brownies and Guides meet as follows:
Brownies (7-10 year olds)
Tuesday afternoons 4.15-5.45pm
Brownies is about trying new things that teach girls aged seven to 10 about themselves, their community and their world. Brownies introduces girls to a world of new opportunities, challenges and fun. Girls go along to camps, holidays, day trips and sleepovers. They get together with their friends at regular meetings where they learn new hobbies, get creative, develop skills and have outdoor adventures. As well as trying activities in their meetings, girls choose from interest badges related to things they want to know more about.

Girl Guides (10-14 years)
Monday afternoons 4.15-5.30pm
Guides have an exciting and varied programme designed to inspire and challenge girls from 10-14. What you do in Guides is up to you, from taking part in lots of exciting activities at regular meetings to special events and trips away. You will choose from different badges and awards which will help you learn new skills and try new challenges. You can do some of this on your own and others you’ll do in groups in your regular unit meetings.

Our much-loved Summer Dance is back for another year – great for anyone aged 4-11 years old. This opportunity is a perfect fit whether you are new to dance or a more experienced dancer looking to continue your training during the school holidays.
The day is divided into lots of different sessions of dance and performing arts alongside some crafts and games for a fast-paced day of fun.
Classes are split into age-appropriate groups with tuition provided by inspirational guest teachers. They take place in our purpose-built Performing Arts centre set in the school’s beautiful grounds which are enjoyed at break times and there may be some outdoor dance on location!
It is a wonderful opportunity to experience a variety of dance in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Summer Dance is open to all so tell your friends & get them to come along too!
The ‘Tuck Shop’ and ‘Uniform-Free’ nature of the course is a bonus.
4 days: 10am-4pm: £145 (sibling discount available)
Seniors
This Dance Day workshop will focus on American Jazz. Musical theatre is still strongly based on jazz dance, think ‘Big Spender’ and ‘Sweet Charity’. Also influenced by trends such as hip hop and breakdancing. Jazz dance remains strongly linked to popular music, it has evolved over the decades from social dance to professional performance. Have fun and challenge yourself with your individualism of style within a group style and performance.
The day will take place in our purpose-built Performing Arts centre and be led by Ruth Wood.
I day: 9:30am-4:30pm: £40
