Year 5 Pupils Learning About Polar Climates

May 8, 2014

Year 5 pupils have been working hard this term learning about ‘Polar Climates’, comparing Arctic and Antarctic regions

Their studies have enabled them to learn about polar plants and wildlife.  They have huddled like male Emperor penguins and discovered the importance of krill in the food chain.

They have learned about the harsh living conditions in these environments and some of the famous explorers who endeavoured to reach the South Pole.

The girls were very lucky to welcome two visitors – Mr Colin Macgregor and Mr Tudor Morgan – to talk about their experiences of working in Antarctica.  Both speakers were most impressed by the excellent standard of the Antarctica projects.  The girls’ efforts highlighted their tremendous enthusiasm, knowledge and creativity, and made the judging process extremely challenging indeed!

Our three worthy winners!
