Year 1 trip to Newport Museum

February 11, 2015

Year 1 (a.k.a The Magnificent Monmouth Manglers) boarded the coach to Newport on a quest to find out about a typical Victorian wash day. They discussed how different life would be without the electrical labour-saving devices of today. Each group had a chance to use a barrel and dolly, wash the clothes, use the mangle and peg out the washing. The children also had the chance to scrub a doorstep, handle some wash day artefacts and draw pictures of old and modern irons. They behaved beautifully and all agreed that wash day was hard work!
