White water in Llangollen for the Canoe Club

June 10, 2018

Nineteen students and three staff camped in sunny Llangollen over the second weekend of Half Term and enjoyed two days of kayaking on the Rivers Dee and Tryweryn. An advanced group spent their time on the National White Water Centre, honing their skills on very fast water (grades 3 and 4) while beginner and intermediate groups explored the friendlier rapids on the River Dee at Mile End Mill. Progress was made by all during a challenging but fun weekend and it was warm enough for the Dee groups to experience river hydraulics very directly by swimming through stoppers and pour-overs.
