The U16 Anne Smart netball tournament is a prestigious event; the winners go on to represent South East Wales at the national finals, due to be held this year in Swansea.  Having won the event for the past two years, the pressure was on for HMSG!

Following the first round, the pool of 24 schools was whittled down to just 5; each school having won their respective group.  Held at HMSG, the final consisted of ourselves, Gwynllw, Pontllanfraith, Caerleon and Tredegar.  A  close game in the first match saw a very nervous HMSG take a 9-5 win against Gwynllw.  As the nerves settled, the standard of netball improved and a 19-1 win against Caerloen and 13-2 victory over a tough team from Pontllanfraith meant all HMSG had to do was beat Tredegar in the final round, and the title was theirs for the third successive year.  HMSG made a fantastic start to the game and never looked back, winning the match, and again, taking the county title.

Congratulations to Annabel (c), Sereima, Kala, Eily, Milly, Ellie, Emily, Poppy and Issie.  Our place is booked for the national finals!
