U11 Gymnasts Represent Wales at UK Final

March 19, 2014

In February at the BSGA Milano Team Welsh Finals the very talented Inglefield House U11 gymnastics team were placed second and therefore qualified with Ysgol Pencae to represent Wales at the National Finals at Fenton Manor in Stoke-on-Trent this week.

Ruby Bradbury (Y6), Lucy Creasey (Y6), Sky Ballantyne (Y6) and Charlie Cole (Y5) competed in three disciplines; individual floor, vault and trio floor. Some of the best gymnasts in the country were at the competition; IAPS and GISGA champions and runners up Maltmans Green and Tormead were again very impressive, as was our sister school Haberdashers Askes. After three excellent rounds and an improvement in their team score, Inglefield House were placed 18th in the UK, with the Welsh team finishing an very pleasing 5th overall.
It is amazing to think how far they gym team has come in just their second season. This could not have been achieved if it was not for the very generous purchase of a full size gymnastics floor by the Friends of HMSG and the excellent coaching of Mrs Crawford, who is herself an ex international gymnast.
The four girls are pictured here with the school mascot and aptly named ‘Gymimia’.
