Thrilling white-water kayaking in Scottish Highlands

July 22, 2022

Six skilled students at Monmouth School for Boys have spent a week in the Scottish Highlands running an exciting array of white water rivers.
The students learned a significant amount about leading each other down challenging sections, putting to good use their teamwork and safety and rescue skills, under the watchful eyes of coaches Mr Sean Taylor and Dr James Harrison.
Due to the heat wave, river levels were low, but driving further to dam-releases on the Moriston, Garry, Awe and Tummel gave them a fantastic variety of conditions with wave trains, rock-strewn rapids, gorges and exacting river features. Some timely rain meant that the Spean Gorge and River Etive were also at a good level.
