The Sunday Times lists Monmouth as third best place to live in BritainMarch 14th, 2014
An attractive market town. Good travel links. Excellent independent schooling. These are just some of the reasons The Sunday Times have named Monmonth 3rd best place to live in Britain!
in 2013, Monmouth was judged to be the 12th best place to live in Britain, so it was fantastic news to discover in 2014 Monmouth has jumped 9 places up to 3rd just behind Skipton in North Yorkshire and Newnham in Cambridge which were judged 1st and 2nd place respectively.
Monmouth town was commended for its market town charm and travel links; “The town is attracting people who travel for work; the nearby A40 and M50 place a large part of the country within driving range.”
We are pleased to add that the quality of schooling has also been featured; ‘Its Independent schools, which cater for children aged 3-18, are not only noted for getting a good proportion of their students into Russell Group universities, but have some of the most reasonable fees in the country.’
Finally, the report comments on the cost of housing in the Monmouth area; “The housing stock is varied, with plenty of properties in the £250,000 bracket, though you’ll have to fork out upwards of £550,000 if you want a large pile.”
