In a dazzling showcase of talent and compassion, students from across age groups came together at The Blake Theatre for a heartwarming charity concert that entertained a large audience of family, friends, staff and students, raising more than £600 for St David’s Hospice.

Kicking off the night on a high note was MOJO (Monmouth Jazz Orchestra), led by Mr. Alun Hathaway. The Jazz Orchestra delivered a toe-tapping rendition of John Fogerty’s “Proud Mary,” featuring standout solo performances throughout.

Following suit, the Haberdashers’ Monmouth Symphonic Winds, directed by Miss Sarah Fowler, brought a contemporary streak to the concert with Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” and concluded their set with an electrifying rendition of A-Ha’s 1980s classic, “Take On Me.”

Breaking new ground, the Guitar Ensemble, now a mixed-sex group, captivated the audience with a beautiful rendition of “Edelweiss” from The Sound of Music, seamlessly blending classical charm with modern musicality.

The Big Time Band, skilfully directed by Mr. Ian Russell and Julie Gibbons, wrapped up their entertaining set with the enchanting theme from “Harry Potter,” casting a spell of musical magic on the delighted crowd.

Bringing the evening to a close, Haberdashers’ Monmouth Senior Strings performed pieces by Gluck, Mozart, and Bartok, showcasing the timeless beauty of classical music.

Congratulations echoed through the venue as the performers took their final bow, leaving everyone in awe of the talent and unity on display. This charity concert was not just a musical triumph but a testament to the power of collaboration and generosity.
