Students mark Remembrance at Monmouth

November 9, 2018

Pupils at Monmouth School for Girls focused on the symbolism of the Poppy and the Last Post – the combination of mourning and optimism – at a special Remembrance assembly today (Friday 9th November).

The Head Girl, Faisa, Senior Prefects Katie, Lisa and Caitlin, and Hallie from Monmouth School Girls’ Prep, then joined Acting Head, Mr Tom Arrand, and Chaplain, Reverend Clifford Swartz, for a short service at the school’s War Memorial at 11am.

Rev Swartz, paid tribute to former Monmouth School for Girls’ student, Maud Edwards, who was killed aboard HMS Natal during World War One, and Faisa laid a wreath in her honour.
