Sports Day 2015: Records and Retirement

June 22, 2015

Tuesday saw the sun shining and the strawberries and Pimms flowing for the annual Inglefield House Sports Day.

With a gentle breeze blowing through the Wye valley the conditions were perfect for both the sports stars and the spectators. The jam-packed afternoon saw no less than nine school records broken. One long standing record, held since 2001, was smashed by Millie Ryan’s exceptional 1m 21second run on the 400m track. Every girl competed in both track and field events, moving from one event to the next in a veritable hive of organised chaos. Other dramas of the day included a dead heat in the Year 4 hurdles and a number of photo finishes. Congratulations to this year’s winners, Bagnall Oakley!

Sports Day 2015 v1Our heartfelt thanks go out to Mrs Edmunds who has been at HMSG for 34 years and for whom this was her last Sports Day before retiring.

Her impeccable orgnisation allows one of the busiest events in the school calendar to run with military precision. We don’t know what we’ll do without you next year, Mrs Edmunds!
