October 4, 2021

A talented athlete at Monmouth School for Boys represented Team Wales in the Mini London Marathon.

Harry, from Year 10, finished an impressive 19th out of 199 runners in the Under-15 Boys’ section on Sunday 3rd October.

Harry, who wore race number 3302, completed the 2.6km course in a time of 8:17, just five seconds behind the first Welsh runner home, in 11th place.

It was a fantastic experience for 14-year-old Harry, who enjoyed the route, which stretched from Temple Place on the Embankment to the iconic finish on the Mall.

Athletes from the nine regions of England, plus Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, and teams from 33 London borough were involved in the race.

Some of the best marathon runners in the world followed in Harry’s footsteps in the London Marathon just a couple of hours later.

The teenager had warmed up for his Mini London Marathon appearance with a full contact game of rugby on the Saturday afternoon for the school against Sir Thomas Rich’s School, Gloucester.
