Renishaw Visit

June 24, 2014

On Thursday, 19th June a group of prospective engineers, dentists and doctors from the Sixth Forms of HMSG and Monmouth School embarked on an exciting adventure to Renishaw, to discover more about their dental and neurological work.  We were all fascinated to learn how their precision technology assists in making brain surgery safer and how they use zirconia, a white solid, to create realistic, long-lasting replacement teeth.  We further enjoyed programming the Renishaw neuromate® robot for surgery involving electrode implantation into the brain for deep brain stimulation, which can be used to reduce symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.  An intriguing and highly informative day was had by all.
