Reception visit Monmouth Fire Station

September 20, 2017

To create a ‘stunning start’ to their ‘Bright lights, Big City’ topic the Reception staff took their new classes to Monmouth Fire Station this week. The children had the opportunity to meet the crew and look at the uniforms and kit that they use in their work. The children all enjoyed looking inside the fire engine and at all the instruments and gadgets hidden under the side panel.

The highlight for the children was the chance to have a go at putting out a mock fire using the large pressure hose. We would like to thank our friends at Monmouth Fire Station who are always so generous with their time when we pay them a visit.

The Reception children will be off to Malpas Fire Station in Newport next week, to have a look at their fire rescue boat and road accident rescue equipment. They can’t wait!
