Pupils and staff celebrate Neurodiversity Week

March 16, 2023

A Year 12 student at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools says it’s important to celebrate and talk about neurodiversity.
Neurodivergence refers to variations in how people’s brains work, including differences in neurological structures, functions, or behaviours.
Common examples of neurodivergent conditions, include autism spectrum condition (ASC), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, Tourette’s syndrome, and many others.
Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools are proud to be supporting Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2023.
Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. T
Amelia says: “It is important to understand and acknowledge neurodivergence because it challenges the traditional notions of normalcy and encourages us to embrace the diversity of human experience.
“Recognising and valuing neurodivergent individuals helps to reduce stigma and discrimination, promote greater understanding and acceptance, and encourages more inclusive and supportive communities.
“Ultimately, recognising and embracing neurodiversity can help us to build a more equitable and inclusive society for everyone.”
