Year 1 trip to Newport WetlandsJune 5th, 2015
The Year 1 children boarded the coach to Newport in high spirits on Thursday morning.
The children completed a series of pond-dipping, woodland and grassland activities. They used identification charts to name their creatures, which ranged from stickleback to lesser water boatman. The woods and grassland areas offered up a large range of different species such as a tiger moth caterpillar and woodlouse.
Everyone enjoyed a picnic lunch in the sunshine surrounded by ducks, geese and their baby goslings.
The children impressed the RSPB leaders with their incredible understanding and vocabulary, and the confidence with which they were able to share their knowledge. They all behaved beautifully and were a credit to the School.
