Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools will be taking part in Place2Be’s Children’s Mental Health Week: 1-7 February 2021

January 29, 2021

This year’s theme is Express Yourself.

“Communicating your individuality” “Showcase your true self”
“relieve yourself of stress and free your mind” “celebrate your uniqueness”
“collaborate better, build a community”

This year we are taking part in Children’s Mental Health Week to make Health and Wellbeing the primary focus for our staff, parents and pupils.

Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, sport, dance and drama, photography and film, or just hobbies/activities that make you feel good.

It is important to remember that being able to express yourself is not about being the best at something or putting on a performance for others. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself.

Through a series of activities in tutor time, focussed discussions, themes in our assemblies, and pupil’s relaxation time, we hope to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health and fostering a culture of resilience and confidence, particularly in these challenging times. We will be asking them to share pictures / video clips of how the variety of ways they express themselves and find their moments of bliss and happiness and would love you, as parents and carers, to be a part of this week in encouraging your son or daughter to participate.

They can also ‘dress to express your mood’ by wearing a colour each day to express how they feel. If you wish to donate to the charity please follow this link: Donate today and support our vital work – Place2Be
