Year 1 ‘Field to Fork’ Experience

Year 1 pupils had the opportunity to experience the ‘field to fork’ process when they visited Everes’s Farm as part of their ‘Yum Yum’ topic coverage. Their day included an opportunity to get up close to a range of farmyard animals before they were dressed in white overcoats and hairnets ready to experience the on-site butchery. Children learnt how to make minced beef and made their very own, fresh burgers.

To conclude the trip, pupils played a game of ‘lucky dip vegetables’ in order to distinguish between vegetables that grow underground and above ground.
