Children mark World Book Day

March 5, 2020

Children at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools donned their best costumes to celebrate World Book Day.

Pupils dressed up as their much-loved story-book characters to mark the annual event on Thursday 5th March.

The children at Monmouth School Girls’ Prep and Monmouth Schools Pre-Prep and Nursery, in particular, embraced the day and brought their favourite characters to life.

Six-year-old Shay dressed as a character from The Christmasaurus, while five-year-old William came to school as Mr Michael McGregor from the Beatrix Potter tales.

Year 6 pupils Meghan and Anna were Lilo and Stitch from the Disney animations.

Headmistress at Monmouth School Girls’ Prep, Mrs Jennie Phillips, also joined in the fun.

Mrs Phillips said: “World Book Day is a wonderful and colourful event which helps spark the imagination of every pupil at our schools.

“Our children enjoy reading and we always try to make story-sharing an important part of their everyday lives.

“Our pupils and staff embraced World Book Day fully and the costumes worn were absolutely fantastic.”
