The Year 1 children had a fabulous independent learning lesson where they designed, chose materials and built their own boats.  They used gold bullion to test the floating capabilities of their vessels. Harry proudly showed me his finished boat and declared it to be “the best day ever!”  Relying entirely on their own skills and resourcefulness gave the children true pride and ownership of their finished vessels, not to mention the feeling of exhilaration gained from being allowed to use the glue gun by themselves!
