Wonderful Water!

April 30, 2019

Children at a Monmouth school had a splashing time when they arrived for the start of the Summer Term.

The staff at Monmouth Schools Pre-Prep and Nursery provided a host of activities, including water gun target practice, foil boat building, pond dipping and a water walk experiment.

A series of pipes and tubes were positioned around the car park and some of the intrepid children made their way up a ladder to send the water on its way.

The activities kicked off the Wonderful Water topic – a new theme that will lead children on a journey of scientific discovery planning.

The new topic will include a trip to Cardiff Bay, pirate storytelling as well as visits to Newport Wetlands and Bristol Aquarium.

Headteacher, Mrs Jennie Phillips, said: “Each year group have put their own spin on the topic with pirates, mermaids, aquatic animals and environmental issues all set to make an appearance.

“The topic launch put everyone in a very positive mood and any first day back nerves were quickly forgotten.”

She added: “As well as our exciting new theme, this term will also include our pizza oven big build, Outdoor Classroom Day and some top secret fabulous finish fun to round off the year.”
