Summer 2020 Week 9: 26/6/2020
Summer Term – Week 9
In the penultimate week of the term, learning reached new heights with our Nursery department graduating from Space Academy to the University of Paleontology. Children spent the week learning all about the Jurassic age, highlights included the creation of frozen dinosaur eggs, dinosaur shadows and fossils.
Meanwhile, our rather grown-up Reception pupils had a bear themed week. There was some impressive factual writing about bears and wonderful re-telling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Festivities culminated in a teddy bears picnic at the end of the week.
Year 1 pupils learnt about the life of Chris Hadfield as part of their focus on space. I had the pleasure of reading some incredible interviews and creative writing this week. In addition, there was some beautiful art work on display for good measure too.
Lastly, our Year 2 team spent the week learning about the life and work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Covid-19 wasn’t going to get in the way of learning for our eldest pupils, who took the opportunity to enjoy a virtual tour of the SS Great Britain.
