Summer 2018 Week 7: 15/6/2018

Summer Term – Week 7

The Festival of Literacy has been a great success this week, and I would like to thank you all for providing such fantastic book day costumes and so many books for swapping. Life at Agincourt is certainly never dull, but I think I might have had my most bizarre afternoon yet on Monday. Dressed as Pippi Longstocking, with Mr Wren (Gangsta Granny) and Mrs Franklin in her pyjamas by my side, the Year 2 children (assorted animals, princesses, super-heroes and villains) ran their chariot race heats (to the cheers of ‘forza’ and ‘vai, vai, vai!’) and practised their Roman numeral chant and tortoise formation using their fantastic home-made shields. We had also invited Italian students, Caterina and Elena, to join us for the afternoon. They may still be recovering. It was all enormous fun and a genuine pleasure to see the sheer delight on the faces of the children. Happy days, indeed!
