Michaelmas 2018 Week 9: 16/11/2018

Michaelmas Term – Week 9

This week began with a day of Remembrance activities which I, for one, will certainly not forget in a hurry. Whilst there was a huge amount of fun and enjoyment to be had by the children, this had been carefully balanced with some very poignant and respectful moments of reflection during the day. The Year 2 museum of family artefacts encouraged some excellent historical discussion and the children were extremely proud to share the items they had brought in with their friends. On Tuesday, Tom Haffield conducted his first training session with the volunteers from Monmouth School for Girls. Those of you who follow us on Twitter will have seen that this caused a good deal of interest, and I gained a whole new respect from my youngest daughter (who is a keen swimmer herself) when Rebecca Adlington and Jazz Carlin retweeted our photographs! Reverend Kevin visited us for assembly on Wednesday, and also passed on the news that the building works at the church will not be completed by Christmas, so sadly we will not be able to hold our annual Christmas Service this year. There is always an up-side, as we do now have a little extra time to rehearse our Christmas production.
