Lent 2020 Week 4: 31/1/2020

Lent Term – Week 4

There has been a multicultural theme across all year groups this week. Main school children were treated to an Australia Day assembly and all children sampled Anzac biscuits on Monday. Throughout the week, all pupils have learnt more about Chinese New Year, with Year 2 joining Nursery for a Chinese Dragon Dance performance, Year 1 children used iPads to research facts about Chinese New Year and China, while our Reception pupils welcomed Mr Cross into school. Mr Cross, a Master in martial arts taught the children a range of Kung Fu stances as well as sharing
his experiences of his time in China whilst training.

In other news, we held our first School Council and Eco-Warrior meetings of the term. Our new members had some well-considered and creative ideas. Nursery children braved the outdoors to make ice sculptures, tackle a mud slide and build a house for a hedgehog they spotted in the grounds. Later in the week, they welcomed Louby Lou and Alys into school for some inspirational story telling. Year 1 children designed and decorated some beautifully detailed Chinese lanterns and Year 2 children have used geographical language to plot routes across oceans and continents as
part of their geographical focus.
